How to Use Your Saved Recipes & Links in ChatGPT

You saved a recipe from TikTok last month. Now you want it. Instead of scrolling through your saves, just ask ChatGPT: “What chicken recipes have I saved?” — and it pulls them up instantly from your SAVY library, complete with ingredients and transcript.

This guide walks you through connecting SAVY to ChatGPT in under 2 minutes. You'll create a Custom GPT that has full access to your saved content.

What You Need

  • A SAVY account (free)
  • ChatGPT Plus, Pro, or Team plan (Custom GPTs require a paid plan)
  • 2 minutes

Step 1: Get Your SAVY API Token

Your API token is what lets ChatGPT access your saves securely. Only you have it.

  1. 1Open SAVY and sign in
  2. 2Tap the Settings gear icon (top right)
  3. 3Tap Connect to AI
  4. 4Scroll down to Your API Token and copy it

Keep this private

Your API token is like a password to your saves. Don't share it publicly or paste it in group chats.

Step 2: Create Your Custom GPT

  1. 1Go to chatgpt.com
  2. 2Click your profile → My GPTsCreate a GPT
  3. 3Click the Configure tab
  4. 4Set the name to something like “My Saves” or “SAVY Assistant”
  5. 5In the Instructions box, paste:
You have access to the user's SAVY saves — recipes, places, products, tips, and more saved from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and the web. When the user asks about something they saved, use the SAVY actions to search and retrieve it. Show the source URL so they can revisit the original. If they describe something vaguely (“that pasta recipe”), search for it. If they ask what they've saved, list recent saves.

Step 3: Connect the SAVY API

This is the part that gives ChatGPT access to your saves.

  1. 1Scroll to Actions → click Create new action
  2. 2Click Import from URL
  3. 3Paste this URL:
https://usesavy.com/.well-known/openapi
  1. 4You should see 5 actions load: listSaves, searchSaves, getSave, getStats, and saveUrl
  2. 5Click Authentication → choose API Key
  3. 6Set Auth Type to Bearer
  4. 7Paste your SAVY API token from Step 1
  5. 8Click Save

Step 4: Test It

Open your new GPT and try these:

“What recipes have I saved?”

“Find that chicken soup recipe from Instagram”

“Show me all the products I saved this week”

“Save this link for me: https://example.com/cool-thing”

“How many things have I saved total?”

ChatGPT will call the SAVY API in real-time, pull your saves, and respond conversationally. If a save has a video transcript, it'll include that too — so you get the full content, not just a title.

What ChatGPT Can Access

Once connected, your GPT has access to everything in your SAVY:

  • Recipes — ingredients, steps, cook times, serving sizes
  • Places — restaurants, cafes, addresses, ratings
  • Products — names, brands, prices, buy links
  • Tips & guides — advice, tutorials, how-tos
  • Video transcripts — full text from TikToks, Reels, and YouTube videos
  • Source info — original URL, creator name, platform, date saved

Good to Know

Your SAVY GPT is a dedicated chat — it won't be available in your regular ChatGPT conversations. Pin it to your sidebar for quick access. When ChatGPT expands MCP support to all plans, SAVY will work across every chat automatically (the server is already built).

Privacy & Security

Your data stays private. The API token authenticates only your account — nobody else can see your saves. The Custom GPT is private to you by default (you can publish it, but the token stays hidden). You can regenerate your token at any time in SAVY settings.

Is It Free?

SAVY is free. The API integration is free. The only requirement is a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan (for Custom GPTs). Saves made through ChatGPT count toward the same 50/month free limit as the app. SAVY Pro gives you unlimited saves everywhere.

Also Works With

SAVY isn't limited to ChatGPT. You can also connect it to:

  • Claude Code / Claude Desktop — one terminal command
  • Cursor — MCP config JSON
  • Windsurf — MCP config JSON
  • Any MCP-compatible client
